Diary / Blogger

Over the forthcoming months, we will be maintaining an online
diary or 'blogger' where we will be posting items of interest.
The best of these will be going into our newsletter, so make
sure you sign up for our newsletter
to receive details of special offers, previews of our
new lines and links to interesting web sites that we have
found.
The first item in our online diary is the photoshoot that
we carried out for this web site and catalogue.
Ethical Consumer World 2003
11-13th April 2003

It was the first outing for the ethically me SS03 range.
(It almost felt like playing shop for the weekend)
We ran a competition for a £50 gift voucher - thank
you to all that entered and congratulations to Caroline Flesk
from Oxford who was our winner! It was really important for
us to get feedback on our clothes and our ethical measurement
system. Thank you for all the feedback!
As the show was quite quiet we had a chance to meet some
very interesting people and we hope to introduce you to a
number of them over the next few months. So look out for their
details on the site, in our newsletters and in your parcels.

Oli
Green (the photographer), stepped in and offered to help
and we managed to secure a fabulous location in Greenwich.
I have never watched the weather before but I became an
addict in the run up to the shoot. The day dawned cloudy
but not raining and that is how it stayed. The team was
working hard but it took so long to get things going that
suddenly it was 3pm with 3 shots down but still 8 to go!
But that is when the adrenalin started kicking in and the
team pulled together to do the most amazing work. Oli was
furiously thinking of new shots like having Laura, the model
pose on the front porch roof (doesn't it look glamorous?).
The story the picture does not tell was that it was rush
hour and cold. There were some funny moments though, whilst
Laura was posing on the perch, a van driver yelled out of
the window "Don't Jump!" .I did think I needed
a sign saying workers are fairly paid and not mistreated!
The day culminated with everyone charging down to the river
to get what turned into the most amazing shot (you'll see
it in the catalogue). The
lighting was so poor that we improvised and used the car's
headlights , moving the car and the model until it was perfect.
Seeing the contacts is when it really hit home that ethically
me is all about making fashionable clothes in an ethical
manner and these photos show that it can be done in a stylish
and fun light.
